what i feel

it is the end of our exchange. i think that if i say that we learnt a lot it will be  a voice of this group.we learn a lot about each other's countries, culture and a lot about arabic music. we had a lot of fun, because everyday we did something different.food was also good ,every evening we tasted a little bit of gastronomy from each country.and most of us learnt a lot of communication between different nationalities and learnt some words in different languages.if you asked everyone from this project i think that they would tell it was a very good exchange.

DOVIDENIA!!!

Yesterday came a journlist to ask us about the conflict in Libanon. The  main conclusion was that Israel, supported by the United States, are not just continuing the attaks, they are also increasing them for this last two days specially in the south of Libanon. We think that althougt the Isralian governament say that it's just because a "security method" to protect them of Hezbollah we are sure that that's not truth and they just are trying to dominate the middle orient.
A lot of palestinians are dying, a lot of libanese are dying, a lot of people is dying, a lot of children are dying, a lot of families are dying.... I just c an say: STOP THE WAR!!!!!!!!!!!

Stereotypes

The idea of STEREOTYPES was really amazing......as the participants could express their feelings and what they have learned during the days of the exchange about other countries.
Ok....but I felt that it was a kind of exageration in performance....but Enrico the leader of italien group told me that theatre needs exageration to be funny....if not all plays will be the same. I think he s right ,any way the scetches prepared by participants were really wonderful and it reflects how much they benifit from the exchange to know other cultures and other ways of life ,in addition the  plays were so nice ,funny and I can say that most of us liked them.

Our Trip to LYON

According to yesterday s trip to lyon ,it was really amazing....we went to many places but the place I liked the most was(Le Parc De La Tete D or) not just because of its beauty but also because of the lovely children we met there....The first idea came into my mind was:Why the children in my country Palestine don t live their childhood like this?Is their fate to cry and to suffer?
Children are the ones who give the real meaning of happiness and innocence ,For that I hope and I pray God that one day I can see the happiness, the joy and the innocent smile on the face of every suffering child in that world.....especially the ones who are the victims of the war like iraqis, lebanese and palestinian children.

Stereotypes or prejudices?

Slovaks are alcoholics. They drink whole day and than they fight in pubs without reasons. Palestinians are terorists. Marokians sell you their doughters for two camels. Frenchs have problem with their young people and Jordanians kill their old relatives. Spain is country of  " latino lovers" ant romantic Italians are still shouting, eating pizza and drinking beer. Is it truth or not?
I think; that if we talk about stereotypes, we have to talk also about prejudices. Cause these two things exist together - stereotypes might become prejudices. And if we keep stereotypes in our minds, we will never find a way to understand each other. And that is the reason why I think that is great to discover, what is truth and wat is false on stereotypes.

Drame!!

The media plays a MAJOR role in the prejudices, misconceptions and stereotypes that people
seem to have and grasp on to!based on this fact there is less respect for cultural diversity in this world!!
On the land of les échandes youth camp we have all seemed to agree strongly upon this fact especially after the activity of today!

The main task was to show which stereotrypes we might have based on our influences from the media, about  other peoples behaviour from differant cultures and countries, imitating them in a comical exaggerated way!
it all started with Enrico dividing us into groups each group representing a different country and each person representing a different member of the 'typical family' with a problem but not necessarily a solution inorder to clarify the stereotype whatever it might be....

discrimination

The discrimination is a common problem, specially when people from different countries, ages, religions and gendres must live toghether.
Here in "Les échantes" we have a good exaple of that. Altough all of us we are very tolerant with each other, sometimes we also discriminate without purpouse.

For example, when a group from any country is chatting and another person from another country cames in, they usually continue speaking in their own language so the other person is notn able to understand what is going on. Maybe that's not a strong discrimination but it is a way of exclusion.
The situation gets worse when people who speaks the same language talks about the other person in front of him, while he doesn't understand it.

In conclusion, everybody discriminates, with or without purpouse, so we all should try harder to avoid this kind of behaviour.

Fiche/fish

Sunday morning the program started in an aquarium. Everyone was like a fish in the water to discover deeply every country. It was a pleasure for everyone to see the collect of informationon the posters. Then Mauve chose a country with a spcific theme, the reprsentant of the country went in the middle the other aroundcould ask questions.

It was a great moment we could see it as we finished late.

Morrocian Slovacian

Our first traditional night was a Slovakian Morrocian night. The impressive thing was that we were able to eat special dishes from both countries, such as Brinza cheese, Tajine, Kapusnica, Slivkone knedly, Morrocian mint tea. We had the chance to hear music from both countries. Then we made a small competition regarding our knowledge in those two countries and the palestinian team were the winners.

BARNGA: CULTURAL SHOCK

A representation of the world with different cultures: different rules.
We were separated in 6 different groups and we were given the rules in different languages of what we thought was the same card game. We started playing with our own groups to practice and everyone seemed to understand how it was.
Then the game got more complicated, we had to mix ourselfs with other groups to keep playing "BARNGA". A new rule appeared, we couldn't speak. Confusion was about to come.
When we started playing again with the different groups we saw that something was wrong. As we couldn't speak, at first it was hard to understand what was going on.
We didn't know we had different rules in each group. That's why so many problems were showing up while we played.
So as you can imagine, that game had much more mearing that the game itself. After playing BARNGA we all figured out that it is a clear reflection of the world.
The group we were when the game started could be the different cultures, societies, countries... And as in different cultures, we all had different rules.
When we went to a new group we would feel confusion from both sides, and as we weren't allowed to speak, confusion was even bigger. After the game, when we discussed about what everyone felt about this exchange experience, the most feltwere confusion, fear, misunderstanding and anger but also enjoyment. There were funny situations  because of people's reaction and diversity between players. BARNGA is a simplified representantion of the clash of cultures with that game we realized how important comunication is and that sometimes not all we are told is the truth.
The conflicts that cme up playing that game are the same kind of conflicts with all the emotions that come with in real life.

Why I Like This Place

     Why i like this place?
This place is a small picture of the world .... not the world that hatred and wars has torn .... it's the world of love , brotherhood and respection.

Oh dear humanity !
can't you learn abit from these young people?
can't you just try to be good and just like this?
can't you just learn all these languages?
can't you just consider these differences in cultures a richness to be proud of?

Dear humanity,
until you find the answers, i'll enjoy the new world i have.
                                                                       good luck!

A Night to Remember

After a complete day of various activities and intercultural exchange the drum beat of the durbakeh came to effect. On the smell of barbecue and a candle light atmosphere we all got to enjoy the performance of the different dances to the same beat, that of the arabic and african drum. Later that night we also gathered around the melodious sound of the guitar singing different songs and reassuring that music is an international language.
